New Sport Program – Karate based Pankration/MMA

From September 2023, we are starting new Karate-based Sport Pankration/MMA program. For that, York Centre Karate acquired membership in Ontario Grappling Association – Provincial Sport Organization in charge of sport of Pankration (based on UWW variation) the only allowed Amateur MMA type in Ontario. We are still a Karate club, despite public Karate stereotype, Karate is suitable for MMA type of Sport program, especially Okinawan Karate which we are practising. We have experience of similar type of tournaments (Irikumi Go) in the past. We are hoping that will open new horizons for our Karate and organization development.

No Training Sessions on Friday, June 16, 2023

Due to some previous arrangements, I will have to be out of town on Friday, June 16, 2023. Because of that, our training sessions on Friday, June 16 will be cancelled. However, we will have training session instead of Friday, June 16 on Tuesday, June 13 from 5.40 pm till 6.50 pm (both kinder and kids group together) in Room # 2. That means next week we will have training sessions on Monday, June 12, Tuesday, June 13 and Wednesday, June 14 (Monday and Wednesday as usual, Tuesday from 5.40 pm till 6.50 pm). That will not affect the current week which will have remaining training sessions as usual tomorrow Wednesday, June 7 and Friday, June 9. Testing will take place as announced before on Friday, June 23 (all additional details about testing will be shared as soon as we will have confirmed schedule after June 19 (confirming (or not) reopening of Herbert H. Carnegie Arena from that date)).

Herbert H. Carnegie CC (Arena) will be closed until Tuesday, September 5, 2023 (updated on July 25, 2023)

City of Toronto informed us that Herbert H. Carnegie CC (Arena) will be closed from Monday, May 8, 2023 until Tuesday, September 5, 2023 for electrical repairs.
